Nestled in the heart of Japan, Shizuoka is an exceptional tea-growing region, boasting an average annual temperature of 15°C (60°F). Except for the northern mountainous area, the prefecture enjoys a mild maritime climate, with rare snowfall on the plains. The taste of Shizuoka's teas varies seasonally, influenced by elevation and the steaming method used to process the leaves.
The Art of Sencha, also known as the 'Art of Steeped Tea,' was introduced to Japan in the latter half of the 17th century. This tradition was predominantly carried forward by Chinese refugees, monks, and intellectuals who fled their country after the fall of the Ming dynasty in 1644. Tea scholars have noted that the Sencha tradition has significantly contributed to the development of Japanese aesthetic sensibilities, much like the 'Chanoyu' or 'Powdered Tea Ceremony.'
Our organic sencha tea, crafted from 100% organic green tea leaves, offers a jade-colored brew with a bright, grassy, and oceanic aroma, as well as a smooth, mildly sweet taste. Hailing from the JP (Japan) region, this tea is available in a 3.5-ounce pack.
